So, I kind of just fell off the blog in July. My stress levels are off the charts right now and I have been reading but haven’t felt like trying to articulate thoughts and feelings.

THIS MONTH: I’ve been looking for a place to live for so long but haven’t been that great at actually procuring one. I’ve made some awkward calls (my phone cut off during a voicemail, I called a wrong number, this one place never answered) and haven’t had much success. All of this is overwhelming. I think I’m finally getting somewhere, so good thoughts are appreciated! I want to be closer to my NEW SCHOOL and I need a place of my own. Plus, my sister has big plans for the room I’m currently in. And I think everyone is just ready for me to be out! SO hopefully this month will see me move into some crappy apartment and I’ll have something completely new to whine about ūüėČ

Also this month: new semester, new school. I’m excited and nervous. I’m taking some classes I’m really interested in. I’m taking French! Online French because the non online classes were at weird times for me. I took German in high school but I think French seems pretty widely used and pretty.

OTHER STUFF: I got a hair cut! I like it. It’s a little longer than I wish, but it looks shorter when it’s curled under. And the bangs hamper my eyebrow raising game because I can only raise my left eyebrow. But my left eye is lazy, so it’s better for hair to be in the way of it than my good eye. So complicated. Fuzzy iPhone photos:

I also went to see Guardians of the Galaxy with some really cool people and it was SO MUCH FUN. Surprisingly emotional and laugh out loud funny. It isn’t perfect, but it was a lot of fun!¬†I rewatched Brooklyn 99 because I’m pretty lame and I really like that show. I really, really love it. One of my best friends just watched it all and loved it, and it was so much fun to talk about it with her! I’m really excited about all the seasons starting this fall! But I also need to catch up on so many shows. I’m working on Teen Wolf, then I plan to hit The Walking Dead, and I might start The Mindy Project, I need to catch up on Parks and Rec, and I’m sure several others.

BOOKS:¬† I liked¬†The Girl With All The Gifts¬†by M.R. Carey,¬†Pointe by Brandy Colbert, I reread The Archived¬†by Victoria Schwab and followed up with The Unbound, and I love those books!! I liked¬†Kiss of Deception but didn’t love it, and didn’t like The Sea of Tranquility much. I read Anna and the French Kiss again to gear up for ISLA but I don’t really feel like reading Lola again, even though I like it. I really enjoyed Attachments by Rainbow Rowell, my favorite Rowell so far. I bought it when it was on sale for 1.99 with my BN settlement money! I also bought my sister If I Stay¬†by Gayle Forman and The Scorpio Races¬†by Maggie Stiefvater for her (late) birthday and I’m excited for her to read them. Oh, I also liked The Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch. I’m not sure if any of these will end up being posts, but I might do something short for some of them? I am super lame right now. I read more than this but kind of got lazy with my list and I’m being lazy now listing them.

I’m behind of everything ever, especially commenting! Hopefully I’ll make time for that this week! But if you’ve stopped by and have a post I should look at, or want to rec me a book or talk about a show or anything, let me know! Or feel free to tweet or email me!

Besides Books (but not really, there are books)

I’m still really busy with school, and not doing a fantastic job keeping up with blogging (oops). I am slaying at my 8 week course though, so that’s good.¬†I am hoping to catch up on commenting soon! I try to keep up with the top few sections of my bloglovin’ list every so often but then I get distracted or face internet problems and don’t make it as far as I’d like. I will find a way to defeat the list, somehow! And I will probably do a recappish post tomorrow, but I kind of forgot about the whole 28 days thing because that’s what an intense short class will do to you, and I had this one almost ready!

book sets

I mentioned in this post that I got my niecelets some books for Christmas.Neither of the sets had actually been opened and I was¬†actually pretty sad about it, but the oldest niece decided to read Ivy and Bean (Though, because they are Ivy + Bean, she insists on saying “Ivy Plus Bean”) the other day and finished one of them pretty quickly and really liked it! It made me feel really happy! She asked if we could read one of the other ones together sometime this week and I’m super excited about it! I’ve also been reading Dora and 5 minute Princess stories with the youngest niece. I haven’t done a whole lot of reading one on one with the middle one, but I do watch her dance a lot =)

I am behind on every TV show I watch. ¬†And there are so many I want to start! I am hoping once my short class ends I can start catching up. I am incredibly excited about the new season of Game of Thrones! The character posters are kind of lame, but aren’t they always? I’m excited about so many things, but the wedding (Marg’s hair is ridiculous and I love it so much) and Oberyn and everything in the North and Arya and Saaaaansa are some highlights. And dragons, of course.¬†I’m just excited. Do you watch? Are you excited? What are you most excited about?¬†

And speaking of GOT, I saw Kit Harington in Pompeii last night. The movie isn’t exactly great but I enjoyed it, and more importantly, KIT. He is ridiculously good looking. He should be in all the things ever.

This MS MR cover of “Do I Wanna Know” by Arctic Monkeys is one of my favorite things at the moment:

Tell me some of your favorite things?

Farewell January and Hello February [late, oops]

I had a really awful January,so this post is late. I made this post about some of it, but basically I had to move in with my lovely sister and her family rather abruptly. Now I’m looking for an apartment and a job while going to school. I also signed up for an 8 week class for Astronomy, because there wasn’t a whole semester class that I could take. It is a lot of science jammed into a short amount of time and it makes my head hurt.

Because of all of the stress and emotions, I haven’t been the best at following these goals. I haven’t really felt like interacting with people on twitter and I haven’t been great at commenting. I’m hoping I’ll get used to everything soon so that I can be a lot better about them.

But I did cram in some reading before school started and after, so here’s what I read in January:

  1. Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi
  2. World War Z by Max Brooks
  3. Through the Ever Night by Veronica Rossi
  4. Nowhere But Home by Liza Palmer
  5. Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys
  6. Second Chance Summer by Morgan Matson
  7. If We Kiss by Rachel Vail
  8. Kiss Me Again by Rachel Vail
  9. Reread: Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetts
  10. Texas Bride by Joan Johnston
  11. Ten Tiny Breaths by K. A. Tucker (but I kind of skimmed the end so meh)
  12. All Our Yesterdays by Cristin Terrill
  13. Feed by Mira Grant
  14. Another Little Piece by Kate Karyus Quinn
  15. Finnikin of the Rock by Melina Marchetta
  16. Froi of the Exiles by Melina Marchetta
  17. Quintana of Charyn by Melina Marchetta

and I read most of All the Truth That’s in Me but finished in it on the first. There were 3 or 4 DNF’s but they were mainly romances that weren’t working for me.

I’m not sure how many of those I’ll get around to reviewing (hopefully some) but I will say that I really liked All Our Yesterdays and the Lumatere series! Melina Marchetta is everything to me. Also, I liked Under the Never Sky and Through the Ever Night much more than I expected to, and I’m on the waiting list for Into the Still Blue!

I haven’t had much time to catch up on blogs and comment but here are some posts I found. Some of them might be a little older because I’ve been busy but they are worth a read!

And this post has been in a draft since the first day of the month and I’ve had some issues focusing enough to finish and post it. Hopefully things get better soon and I can just be better at blogging in general! Feel free to link me to any cool posts I should look at!
